Enjoy the World Cup from your Bicycle!
The olé, olé, olé’s are getting louder, so that must mean it’s that time again. Just a week into the World Cup and everyone has soccer fever. And while it’ll probably be a while before bicycle soccer catches on (not that it hasn’t been tried before); there are plenty of ways to take in the World Cup without having to leave your bike at home. Cleveland has some of the best bars and pubs around and many of them are encouraging fans to come watch the games. Here are the NEOCycle Team’s top bike friendly spots to catch matches:
· Nano Brew Cleveland is a bike shop and bar in one. Located in Ohio City, Nano Brew has 24 beers on tap that can be enjoyed inside and out on their lively Beer Garden Bar. You can also sip some of their freshly brewed beer from their one barrel brew house. Besides their beer, Nano Brew also sports a fun and simple food menu sourced from local and often organic farmers and butchers. Beyond recharging yourself with food and drink, you can tune up your bicycle at the Nano Brew Bike Tune-up Station inside the bar. It’s got all the tools you need to make sure you’re riding smooth and more importantly, it’s even got a drink rail to rest your beverage while you tune up. Plus, it’s got TV’s both inside and outside in the beer garden
· Around the Corner in Lakewood isn’t necessarily a cyclist’s bar, but it’s got one of the best patios around and ample space to leave your bike secured while you stop in for the game. With a simple, but delicious menu, Around the Corner has more than enough drinks and food to make sure you can keep on pedaling!
· The South Side in Tremont has a 1,000 sq. foot patio that’s open year round. It’s got multiple bike racks and even has one of Cleveland’s Bike Box’s. With an extensive menu, for both drinks and food, the South Side has a lot to offer for you cycling hooligans!
· The Harp in Ohio City is a traditional Irish Bar, so you can bet you’re going to have a great time here during the World Cup. It’s got a huge patio that overlooks Lake Erie and the Cleveland Skyline, so there’s still a lot to look at during the commercial breaks throughout the game. It’s been named a top-ten Irish bar in the US and, with an extensive drink menu including mixed draughts, and their famous boxty cakes; The Harp is going to be a guaranteed good time. Be sure to save room for the Guinness Ice Cream Sundae!
· El Jalapeño’s in Lakewood is there for you when you need to add a little bit of spice to your cycling. It’s a traditional Mexican restaurant that’s there for you when you’re ready to grab some celebratory margaritas.
Whether you’re a soccer fan or strictly a cyclist, you can be sure you’re going to have a great time at any of these bars during the World Cup in the next month and even after.
