CLEVELAND, Ohio (July 15, 2014) – Alt rock group Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. will headline the NEOCycle Music Fest presented by ERC on Saturday, September 12, the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission announced Wednesday. Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. will be joined by Northeast Ohio natives The Speedbumps and The Modern Electric and over a dozen other acts across the two-stage, two-day music festival at Edgewater Park. The NEOCycle Music Fest is part of NEOCycle presented by Ohio Savings Bank, the nation’s first and only urban cycling festival.
The NEOCycle Music Fest anchors The Hub at Edgewater Park presented by Subaru, the bicycle and outdoor lifestyle festival along the Lake Erie waterfront that connects the five unique races and rides of NEOCycle. The Hub at Edgewater Park is free to the public and will feature a build-out from Ray’s Indoor Mountain Bike Park; Thriller BMX shows; stand-up paddleboard races and demos; kid’s zone; beer garden; and Cleveland’s top food trucks.
“NEOCycle is primed for huge growth in its second year and the Music Fest is an important part of the festival,” said David Gilbert, Greater Cleveland Sports Commission President and CEO. “This year’s line-up will provide a musical backdrop to a weekend of cycling, food, drinks and fun at beautiful Edgewater Park. NEOCycle was created to highlight and promote Cleveland’s vibrant and growing bicycling culture and stimulate significant economic activity, and the Music Fest is just one feature that makes the event the country’s most unique cycling event.”
Joining Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., The Speedbumps and The Modern Electric on the GE Lighting Main Stage and the Getaway Tent Acoustic Stage will be Marcus Alan Ward, Revolution Brass Band, Seafair, Maura Rogers & The Bellows, Brent Kirby & His Luck, Syrup, Morgan MeCaskey, Shawn & Shelby and Tim Moon. Several acts will be added to the lineup in the coming weeks. The full schedule will be released at a later date. Fans can check www.NEOCycle.org for the latest line-up and schedule info.
Formed in late 2009, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. is the off-kilter title under which Detroit-area natives Joshua Epstein and Daniel Zott record, release and perform music. Initially beginning as an exercise in collaboration undertaken with very little intention of ever being publicly consumed, the band’s trajectory has been as unexpected as it has been unlikely. In just a few short years, fans have seen the project grow from basement recording project - to media curiosity - to an international touring ensemble widely recognized for their joy-fueled live offerings.
The nation’s first and largest urban cycling festival, NEOCycle combines five unique races and rides with live music at an action-filled festival at The Hub at Edgewater Park on the beautiful shores of Lake Erie. NEOCycle rides and races include the NEOCycle Night Ride presented by Cuyahoga Community College; MCPc Fundo presented by Bike Cleveland; Edgewater Cyclocross; Case Criterium; and Velodrome. The Hub at Edgewater Park will feature two stages of live music, cycling and outdoor lifestyle vendors, stand-up paddleboard races and demos, kid’s zone, beer garden and Cleveland’s famous food trucks
